Indeed, since 2014, the security situation in the far north region has remained unstable and unpredictable given the increase in Boko Haram attacks in the North East of Nigeria but also in the departments of Logone and Chari, Mayo- Tsanaga, Mayo-Sava and more particularly in the Lake Chad region in Cameroon. To date, this situation has caused 321,886 IDPs and 115,921 Nigerien refugees in need of humanitarian aid. The crisis in the North-West and South-West regions has caused nearly 700,000 internally displaced people and 58,000 people who have sought refuge in neighboring Nigeria. The needs of internally displaced people mainly concern shelter, non-food goods, health, access to drinking water and sanitation, education, food security and the protection of civilians. INTERSOS has been operating in all these regions since 2015 with food security activities, protection monitoring and distribution of NFI and Shelter as well as food and provides appropriate assistance to victims of rights violations.
