Missions and Responsibilities
General Objective
Provide specialized services and individual psychological support to people
with moderate to severe mental and/or emotional disorders in the different
areas of intervention.
Provide technical support to protection staff to implement
robust psychosocial support (PSS) activities for children and adults.

 

 




Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the project technical lead and MHPSS specialist for the
development of the overall PSS component of the project
• Assist safeguarding cases with identified mental or emotional disorders referred internally
or externally
• Carry out assessments on a case-by-case basis for diagnosis of psychological disorders and
identification of treatment and therapy in accordance with Intersos MHPSS guidelines
• Develop individual support plans and carry out psychological counseling using
various techniques in accordance with Intersos MHPSS guidelines and SOPs
psychological case management•
Implement the treatment plan for psychological distress cases in coordination
with the medical team
• In coordination with the protection activities manager, ensure that
safe space preparation activities are carried out and that measures be taken to
ensure the safety and heat lines of the spaces.
• Document the progress of cases, maintaining strict confidentiality
and consent protocols, and ensure that data protection protocols are
respected

 




 

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions, based on identified needs
• Conduct targeted group interventions following a curriculum identified or developed internally

Establish and strengthen referral processes
• Provide periodic and anonymized feedback to the project technical referent and the team leader
of social workers on issues that may require their intervention or their
advice.
• Participate in the internal case management meeting and bring to the immediate attention of the
• Line Manager / Project Technical Referent any emergencies and specific needs
• Facilitate internal training for protection staff on the provision of
basic psychosocial counseling in the case management framework. Report any problems and/or
training needs identified during monitoring of the implementation of psychosocial activities
• Facilitate training for internal protection staff and communities on
psychosocial first aid (PFA), identification and assessment of people in
psychological distress • Strengthen community psychosocial support and peer
support group activities
by mapping community structures that respond to
MHPSS issues and building their capacity
• Provide guidance and support to field staff in implementing
structured MHPSS activities and ensure standardization across sites across the
field
• Collaborate with the protection coordinator, the MHPSS specialist, the technical
project referent, the medical coordinator and the GBV/CPS specialist in the development of the
overall MHPSS component of the project
• Carry out all tasks respecting the key principles of protection, including but not
limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and
need-to-know principles
• Establish and ensure effective operation of field support services
• Collaborate with the PSS Team Leader to ensure timely delivery of
PSS materials
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant partners and other
project stakeholders working in the project areas
• Proactively participate in relevant working groups and coordination meetings

Position requirements
Education
▪ University degree in psychology
▪ Training on humanitarian protection themes such as
community protection, survival-centered case management
, PEAS, gender-based violence and child protection will be an asset.
Experience
▪ Minimum of 3 years of experience in a humanitarian context, in
an association, NGO or INGO
▪ Proven work experience in social work in a similar context
▪ Experience working and/or collaborating on a UNHCR project
would be an asset.
▪ Experience in team management of at least 1 year at the same level
would be an asset.
Language
▪ Proficiency in formal written and oral French
▪ Proficiency in formal written and oral English
▪ Good writing skills
▪ Knowledge of local languages ​​would be an asset
