AUF – the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, created 60 years ago, is today the first university network in the world with more than 1000 members: universities, colleges, and research centers in nearly from 120 countries. Revealing the genius of the scientific Francophonie all over the world, the AUF, an international non-profit organization, is also a label which carries a vision for a better development of the educational and university systems: “to think globally of the scientific Francophonie and to act regionally while respecting diversity.

I – MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the authority of the Rector of the AUF, the Regional Director of the Central Africa and Great Lakes Regional Directorate assumes the following responsibilities:
Strategic and operational management
– Apply the AUF strategy in the “AUF – Central Africa and Great Lakes” region
– Represent the AUF, on behalf of the Rector, with political and university authorities in the region
– Ensure operational coordination with the central directorates of the AUF and other regional directorates for interregional or inter-departmental projects
Management of the international network of members
– Implement a policy of public relations, local communication and permanent loyalty with AUF members in the region
– Develop the AUF network and implement the membership policy for higher education establishments and research of the AUF in the region
– Support and support local university structures, such as public authorities, rectors’ conferences, accreditation bodies and scholarly academies in the region
– Set up and animate the network of alumni of the AUF (Network of “Alumni-AUF”)
Budget development and partnerships
– Contribute to the search for new donors and the development of sources of funding for the AUF
– Develop co-financing based on the partnership between the AUF and major organizations, particularly governmental and international, and/or regional and international public and private partnerships
– Set up systematic monitoring of calls for tenders and consultations proposed by the major organizations in the region
Management of regional facilities
– Team management. Manage the region’s human resources as a team leader who highlights skills and motivates his team
– Intercultural management. Manage and ensure respect for cultural diversity and multiple identities
– Project management. Manage files, cooperation or actions, by project with performance indicators and rigorous planning
– Financial management. Manage the budget and supervise the accounting of the region in compliance with the legal frameworks of the countries of establishment and according to the best practices and the internal rules of the AUF
– Administrative management and information systems. Manage the day-to-day operations of the region’s sites and in particular the updating of data in the ERP
– Marketing and Communication. Manage the image and develop the notoriety of the AUF in the region
II- QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Training and experience
– University degree of 3rd cycle (Doctorate)
– University professor or equivalent qualifications
– Experience of at least ten years in teaching and university research
– Confirmed experience in an administrative management and team management position within a university teaching or research establishment
– Experience in the development and management of large cooperative projects in the scientific and academic field and at an international level
– Experience in fundraising and setting up projects French-
speaking sensitivity
– Knowledge of the main actors of the Francophonie and international organizations
– Interest in cultural diversity
– Interest in academic and scientific cooperation in the French language
– Mastery of the French language, spoken and written
General
knowledge – Knowledge of the Central Africa and Great Lakes region
– Association experience
Individual skills
– Dynamism, adaptability, creativity
– Loyalty, responsibility and ethics
– Communication skills and fluency relational
Managerial skills
– Ability to plan, organize, direct, control and ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the activities of an international organizational structure
– Ability to supervise, federate and mobilize a team
III – CONDITIONS
– Duty station: Yaoundé, Cameroon
– Duration of assignment: Fixed-term contract of 2 years with possibility of renewal
– Status of candidates: Full academics or civil servants on secondment or laid off
– Date of entry into office: March 15, 2023
– Special conditions: Occasional trips to AUF locations
– Remuneration: According to the AUF salary grid
