Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation is a world leader in the fight against HIV and AIDS in children. EGPAF operates in 16 countries and more than 5,000 sites worldwide to prevent vertical transmission of HIV to children and support those who are already infected. Today, thanks to the success of the work of the Foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. With a global workforce of more than 3,100 people, nine out of 10 of whom work in the field – the Foundation’s global mission is to implement prevention, care and treatment, and to advance innovative research.




Purpose of the position
The Cartographer will be assigned to the central office in Yaoundé. He/she will work under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Technical Research Manager and the Associate Research Director. He/she will be mainly responsible for the production of maps from the GPS coordinates collected as part of the implementation of the Foundation’s research projects in Cameroon. He/she will collaborate with all staff in the Research and Evaluation Department, including Public Health Evaluation Officers, Deputy Public Health Evaluation Officers and Data Manager, etc. and ensure compliance with EGPAF procedures.



Key Responsibilities:
• Process, analyze and evaluate cartographic information;
• Design maps, graphics, illustrations and layouts at various scales;
• Communicate information through the use of color, symbols, style and other means;
• Use of computers to compile and produce graphics for specialist and general users;
• Design, maintenance and manipulation of geographic information (GI) databases;
• Capture, maintain and produce digital geographic data;
• Verify and evaluate the content and accuracy of printed maps and graphics;
• Maintain a good relationship with collaborators and other staff involved in the process
• Ensure the quality and timely completion of all activities;

Qualifications required
• Level: Baccalaureate +3 in Geometry, Statistics, environmental sciences or geography
• Skills in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and GIS software (QGIS, ACGIS, ARCMAP, etc.)
• Have an aptitude for the use of new specialized software;
• Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Language: bilingualism (French and English). However, be able to speak one language fluently and be proficient in the other language.
• Other skills required: have good interpersonal skills, be available, flexible, be on time, be rigorous and motivated.

Past Performance Provide at least 3 professional references and field experience will be assessed. 15%
