CALL FOR SBEC TRAINEES AT THE DENIS & LENORA FOUNDATION
The Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation works to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation through social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and progressive policies that create opportunity economical for all. Our areas of work include sustainable development, science and innovation, health, leadership, education, entrepreneurship, economics and public policy. The Denis and Lenora Foundation is a non-profit umbrella institution made up of several departments, including the Nkafu Policy Institute, the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center, Communication and Sustainable Development Programs.
The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC) helps formalize, train, and develop entrepreneurs so they can grow their business. The SBEC department is currently looking for 01 (one) intern. The SBEC Intern is responsible for providing support to the SBEC team regarding all activities and services deemed necessary to advance the mission of the department. He/She is bound to bring new ideas to the table when it comes to engaging more entrepreneurs through the SBEC network. This will have a strong focus on empowering women in the private sector to create and grow small and medium enterprises.
Main tasks
- Create mutual learning opportunities between small business owners through the organization of workshops/seminars;
- Establish an extensive network of professional services to meet the many needs of small businesses across the country;
- Develop a strategy to effectively enroll SMEs in the SBEC network;
- Design and implement an essential skills program for all members of the SBEC network;
- Design a concept note and program for all events;
- Prepare draft report for all events
- Mobilize participants during events;
- Delivery of letters of correspondence during the preparation of events;
- Update the attendee database after each SBEC event to increase the audience of constant contacts;
- Take notes and produce reports during events;
- Participate in events engaging the community;
- Align its values with the mission, vision and values of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation;
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in social and economic sciences or any other related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English and French.
- Mastery of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…).
- Be a good communicator and a team player.
- Be able to multi-task, be extremely organized and have meticulous attention to detail.
- Desire to learn, take initiative and suggest best practices with a willingness to take and implement constructive feedback and advice.

What we offer
We offer three (3) months of full-time internship with leading experts and scholars, where you will work on a wide range of topics. We also offer a transportation allowance, in-house training and unlimited internet access. Our interns have full access to research seminars, roundtables, workshops and discussion groups organized by the Nkafu Policy Institute and its partners, in addition to lectures on a wide range of emerging issues critical to business and political interests in Cameroon and in Africa in general.
