For our National Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed “Site Officer” for the Ndongo site .
Reports to: Program Executor Jengi TRIDOM
Supervises: Technical Assistant of Ndongo
Location: Ndongo (South-West of Moloundou, Eastern region)
Duration : Two (02) years renewable
Mission of the department
WWF supports the Government of Cameroon in the sustainable management of natural resources and the development of green growth in the TRIDOM Cameroon landscape. The mission of the department is to ensure the development and implementation of the Jengi TRIDOM program following the highest standards, in accordance with the conservation strategy of WWF Cameroon.
Main duties
∙ Work closely with the “Program Manager”, the “B&I Coordinator”, the “Forest and Climate Coordinator”, the “IP Coordinator” and all Jengi TRIDOM staff, in order to implement the project activities so that they have an impact on communities;
∙ Interact with all target groups, including local communities and indigenous people in the project area, to strengthen their capacities and monitor project implementation with them.
∙ Lead the implementation and monitoring of CIBEL project activities in the project area to ensure a coherent approach to landscape conservation.
Main tasks and responsibilities
∙ Commitment: Promote, develop and strengthen relationships at the local level with the ministries concerned (Territorial Administration, Agriculture and Rural Development, Livestock, Economy and Planning, forests and wildlife, Environment, etc.), the private sector (cocoa buyers from large scale, buyers of NTFPs, etc.) for better implementation of the project ;); ∙ Support the community forests of ADILEM, ACODELIMIT and ACODELIMIT in carrying out socio-economic studies, producing and obtaining management documents (PSG, registration in SIGIF2, etc.) and exploitation sustainability of their forests;
∙ Ensure capacity building for community forest managers with a view to improving forest management and the use of processing equipment and other operating equipment.
∙ Work with agro-industrial companies and smallholder cocoa farmers on how they can optimize the management of biodiversity areas in their plantations and reduce deforestation;
∙ Organize fishermen into groups and ensure their capacity building in sustainable fishing techniques;
∙ Support, with the TRIDOM team, the establishment of a multi-stakeholder platform in Moloundou, bringing together representatives of the private sector, economic and political actors active in the area, conservation organizations, government representatives , local communities and indigenous peoples to discuss and plan the most effective “cohabitation” between agricultural activities, NTFP collection, logging and conservation in the Ndongo area;
∙ Support cocoa farmers by organizing them into cooperatives, strengthening their capacities and supporting them in the production of sustainable cocoa;
∙ Ensure the implementation of ecological monitoring and the security of the Youmbi clearing to the south of the Nki national park;
∙ Communication: Ensure appropriate flow of information between and among key stakeholders, including WWF country office staff, local communities and indigenous peoples, civil society and key decision-makers, in line with the strategic plan ; Ensure management of the Ndongo site, reporting, financial management and storage of project databases.
Profile
Required Qualifications
∙ Bachelor’s degree in the field of agronomy, agro-industry, agroforestry, forestry, business development or a related field;
∙ At least five (05) years of experience within a project team.
Required skills and competencies:
∙ Ability to live in rural areas and remote areas;
∙ Understanding of forestry and wildlife policy, as well as the principles of natural resource management;
∙ Excellent human relations, diplomacy and conflict resolution skills to manage complex and highly sensitive situations involving multiple stakeholders;
∙ Strong communication skills;
∙ Fluency in French is desirable;
∙ Quickness of mind; ability to react under pressure;

Maintains close working relationships and interactions with the Jengi TRIDOM Program Manager, B&I Coordinator, Forest and Climate Coordinator, PI Coordinator, B&I Assistants and other Jengi TRIDOM staff.
● External
Interacts with the country’s government institutions, non-governmental organizations and various stakeholders in the Jengi region.
