JOB DESCRIPTION
The Social Wash/Shelter Assistant assists in the implementation of Shelter-WaSH activities in the field and works in close collaboration with local communities/authorities for awareness-raising/mobilization activities, identification of beneficiaries, training of beneficiaries and overall supervision of WaSH-Shelter activities in communities, schools, formal or informal IDP camps/site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Responsibilities
Works in accordance with NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines.
Writes reports on the progress of support activities at the request of the supervisor or management.
Ensures proper archiving of documents.
Specific responsibilities
Supervise the updating of WASH/Shelter databases (ToR electronic archiving and report, SOV, RoD, etc.);
Manages the database of WASH/Shelter structures (GIS mapping, GPS, technical sheets and data, 5W, etc.);
Maintains liaison with M&E team for data management and electronic archiving of WASH/Shelter team SOVs;
Assists in the assessment of needs and in the implementation of WASH and Shelter projects;
Reports regularly to his supervisor on the progress of activities by submitting concise written reports;
Assist in identifying the communities we will work with
Assists in sensitizing and building the capacity of the people we serve on the social aspects of WASH and Shelter projects;
Works closely with the team of hygiene promoters and community volunteers;
Participates in surveys, assessments and community mobilization around WASH/Shelter activities in the field;
Assists field logistics during distribution, procurement of materials, tools, etc.
Maintains open and professional relationships with team members, promotes a strong team spirit, and provides oversight and direction to enable teams to successfully complete their tasks and within budget

QUALIFICATIONS
Professional skills

General professional skills:
Proven experience in Mapping-GIS, database management, Excel, …
Professional experience as a social worker, M&E, community mobilizer in a humanitarian and recovery context.
Previous work experience in complex and unstable contexts.
Demonstrated results on the responsibilities of the position.
Context-specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Hold a university degree (Bac + 3) in Social Sciences, Public Health, Monitoring and Evaluation, Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Architecture or equivalent.
Work experience in the area of intervention.
Knowledge of data management.
In-depth knowledge of the social, cultural, economic and legal context.
Speak at least one of the local languages of the intervention area (fufuldé, mafa, mandara, etc.);
Speak and write French easily
Oral and written expression of the English language is an asset
