For the recruitment of a social worker
1. CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION
CDD/Caritas is a development organization created by the diocese of
Maroua-Mokolo in the Far North Region. It was born in May 1982, from the diocesan desire
to provide local populations, faced with numerous difficulties, with a
service of development for the whole person and all men. It has been officially
declared as an association since June 8, 2006 under No. 079/RDA/K22/BAPP.
However, for more than 10 years, the entire Far North Region has been plunged
into insecurity. Many Cameroonians are forced to flee their
villages to settle further inland, following multiple attacks by the
Islamist group Boko Haram. This situation has created a humanitarian crisis in the Far North region
which requires an appropriate response to improve the living conditions of the
populations.
In this context, Caritas, the humanitarian branch of the CDD, is implementing project
P.2022/005, Humanitarian aid project for victims of Boko-Haram in the
northern regions of Nigeria and Cameroon, as well as western Chad. in partnership with Caritas
Germany, for a period of 3 years, from July 2022 to June 30, 2025 in the departments
of Mayo-Tsanaga, Mayo-Sava and Diamaré. The objective of the project is to improve the
socio-economic conditions of internally displaced, returnee and refugee populations.
To implement this project, Caritas Maroua-Mokolo is looking for a
social worker. This person will be based in Mora in the Far North Region.
POSITION TITLE: Social worker in the protection sector
Description of tasks:
Under the supervision of the project protection sector manager, the person concerned will have to ensure the
implementation, monitoring, and reporting of protection activities of Caritas MarouaMokolo projects in their respective areas.
It will therefore involve, and in close consultation with the supervisor named above,:

– Management of GBV cases
– Awareness raising, training and monitoring of community protection committees
– Coordination, reporting and communication
– Actively participate in meetings planned by the project coordination;
– Actively represent CARITAS at other sectoral and
coordination meetings in localities;
– Collaborate closely and effectively with the protection officer and the
Monitoring-Evaluation manager;
– Update work tools and write activity reports according to the
required formats and deadlines;
– Actively participate in tasks related to communication needs; taking photos,
videos, collection of testimonies and orientations of its hierarchy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
– Holder of a university level diploma (license) in law and/or
social sciences;
– Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in the protection sector
and in the field of humanitarian project management, identification,
planning, implementation, monitoring, (participatory) evaluation ;
– Have a good knowledge of the Far North and its context.
– Have the abilities and the desire to carry out missions in the field and live in a
rural environment;
– Be of good moral character;
– Be able to take initiative and work in a team;
– Have a sense of organization, rigor, transparency and a good
capacity for adaptation and innovation;
– Be able to work according to the spirit of the Catholic Church (sobriety, sacrifice,
humility, etc.)
– Good command of IT tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
– Good writing skills in French and fluent in local languages
(Mandara).
– Be able to drive a 02-wheel motorcycle and have a license A.
COMPOSITION OF APPLICATION FILES:
The application file must include the following elements:
– A cover letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary of Caritas of the diocese of
Maroua-Mokolo ;
– A detailed curriculum vitae with the names and addresses of three reference people
;
– A photocopy of the national identity card;
– A photocopy of the birth certificate;
– copies of the highest significant diplomas obtained and other
professional references;
– copies of practical references (work certificates, training certificates, etc.)
– A letter of recommendation from a religious leader (Imam, Pastor, Priest).

verify the authenticity of the documents placed in the files. Applications that are incomplete or do not
meet the requested qualifications will not be accepted. Only selected candidates
will be invited to take the written and oral tests.

CONTRACT:
Place of work: Mokolo and Mora in the Diocese of Maroua-Mokolo.
Type of contract: Fixed-term employment contract of twelve (12) months with strong
possibility of renewal.
Remuneration: to be negotiated.
