CALL FOR  INTERNAL/EXTERNAL  APPLICATIONS FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF  TEMPORARY AUTOMOBILE DRIVER  FOR THE PROJECT “LANDSCAPE RESTORATION AND GOOD GOVERNANCE IN THE FOREST SECTOR IN CAMEROON” (Forests4Future – F4F) OF THE DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR INTERNATIONALE ZUSAMMENARBEIT (GIZ /F4F) In YOKO (Central Region)

 




 

context

Since January 2020, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned a new project “Forests4Future (F4F)”. The project supports the implementation of Madagascar, Ethiopia, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin and Togo’s commitments to AFR100 (African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative). The African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100) is a country-led effort to restore 100 million hectares of land and forests in Africa by 2030.



 

In Cameroon, the global F4F project, in close collaboration with GIZ ProFE, supports the government in its efforts to restore degraded forest landscapes and supports the design and implementation of forest landscape restoration (FLR) strategies and activities. In this context, the F4F project concentrates its efforts in the communes of Yoko and Nanga-Eboko, central region.

The main aim of the project is to rehabilitate the ecological and productive functions of degraded forest ecosystems. In this context, F4F also aims to set up mixed agroforestry systems and develop value chains linked to FLR. This project will revolve around three fields of action, namely:

– 1) Operational capacities are improved to strengthen governance structures that ensure local and inter-communal planning for the implementation of FLR measures around the Communal forests of Yoko and Nanga-Eboko;

– 2) Local communities and producers implement FLR measures, based on land use plans, around the communal forests of Yoko and Nanga-Eboko;

– 3) Alternative sources of household income, within the framework of FLR measures, are developed and improved in the peripheral zone of the Communal forests of Yoko and Nanga-Eboko.




 

As part of the implementation of its activities, the Program “Landscape Restoration and Good Governance in the Forest Sector in Cameroon” (Forests4future -F4F) is looking for   Temporary Driver  for its office in  Yoko .

 

A- Responsibilities and Powers

The post holder is responsible for the following activities:

  • Ensure the movement of people and goods as part of program activities
  • Support project office logistics and task management

 

In this context, the incumbent has the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure the transportation of people and program goods;
  • Ensure regular cleaning inside and outside the vehicle for which he/she is responsible;
  • Immediately report any involvement in an accident, even minimal, as well as any damage, deterioration, loss or theft of vehicle accessories;
  • Ensure regular maintenance of the vehicle (oil change after 5000 km);
  • Regularly ensure that vehicle documents are up to date;
  • Check the technical condition of the vehicles before the missions;
  • Ensure vehicles have fuel and submit fuel requests as needed;
  • Ensure that the car logbook is properly kept (trips duly completed, registration of refueling);
  • Ensure compliance with instructions on board the vehicle and when traveling

REQUIRED PROFILE

B- Qualifications, experience and skills required

 

Qualifications

  • At least BEPC or other equivalent diploma;
  • Have a class D driving license
  • Knowledge of logistics would be an asset

 



 

Professional experience

  • At least 7 years of experience as a driver;
  • Not having had a major accident in the last 3 years;
  • Have proven experience in rural missions with driving 4×4 vehicles;
  • Work experience in an international organization would be an asset;
  • Previous experience with GIZ would be an asset.

 

Other knowledge/skills

  • Good oral and written expression in French;
  • Be familiar with basic computer tools (including word, excel and outlook);
  • Organizational capacity;
  • Be rigorous and structured but respectful of passengers;
  • Ability to work under pressure and resistance to stress;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team in a multicultural environment
  • Have complete discretion and respect the confidentiality of all information collected in the context of the exercise of the function;
  • Be flexible for frequent travel.

 

Contract start date:  15.11.2022

Contract period: 3 months renewable once

Duty station: Yoko (Central Region)

Internal classification of the position:  Band 1A under the hierarchical supervision of the Principal Technical Advisor

Deadline for admissibility of application files: 31.10.2022
