December 19, 2022
Yaounde
TERMS OF REFERENCE: RECRUITMENT OF AN INTERN FOR THE INTEGRATION OF “LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND” IN COMMUNICATION FOR SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL CHANGE

Hiring Office:

UNFPA Cameroon

Purpose of consultancy:

As part of the cooperation between the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Cameroon, a new program cycle has been developed by the two parties for the period 2022-2026. This new program is aligned with the UNSDCF which also extends over the same period of 2022-2026, the National Development Strategy 2021-2030 (SND30) and the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022-2025 in connection with the three transformative results i) zero unmet need for family planning, ii) zero preventable maternal deaths and iii) zero gender-based violence, including harmful practices, such as child marriage and female genital mutilation .

The 8th programme, which is structured around five interrelated products, aims to contribute to the achievement of universal access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and the reduction of maternal mortality (MM) with a view to accelerating progress in the implementation of the program of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and improve the living conditions of women, adolescents and young people.

The Program ensures the improvement of supply and access to reproductive health services, including family planning for women of childbearing age, especially in areas with the lowest health indicators. Particular emphasis is placed on young people and adolescents, especially vulnerable girls at high risk of child marriage and teenage pregnancies, in order to benefit from the demographic dividend. Importance is given to vulnerable people in humanitarian sites in order to offer RH services, to fight against gender-based violence and to increase the resilience of young people.

The Program provides for the implementation of a cross-cutting communication strategy using digital technology as well as social and behavior change approaches aimed at increasing demand for, access to and use of integrated maternal health services, age-appropriate information on voluntary family planning that helps women and girls avoid unwanted pregnancies and enable girls to stay in school and accelerate the empowerment of women and youth .
