Recruitment Notice: Training Officer

The European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) is looking for, as part of its activities in Cameroon, 01 Training Officer (Cameroon Agricultural Development Project)

CONTEXT

The European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD), an international solidarity
organization, has been working since 1988 in the service of social and economic development in fifteen
developing and emerging countries. Nearly thirty years of experience have enabled the IECD to develop
real know-how in technical and professional training, in support for very small

businesses and in access to education and health for most vulnerable people.

Present in Cameroon for 30 years, the IECD carries out several of its flagship programs there:

Vocational training by supporting a network of 15 vocational training centers and institutes in the training of young people in rural areas in agricultural trades to facilitate their professional integration.
Rural development by Structuring the market gardening sector (APONH): in partnership with a major French group in the sector, structuring the sector by relying simultaneously on commercial, technical and social activities. Thus, 40 producers see their living conditions improved by working for 200 B2C customers and 15 B2B customers thanks to the commercial intermediation of SOFRULECAM which is an entity created by the IECD for this purpose.
Entrepreneurship:
– The small and medium-sized business incubator project in the agri-food sector
(TRANSFORM): which enables entrepreneurs to create and develop their start-ups
in the agri-food sector by providing a technological hall.
– The support program for Very Small Enterprises: training and support for
micro and small urban entrepreneurs, from all sectors of activity, by strengthening their
management skills, so that they consolidate or develop their professional activity

. The IECD plans, from the 4th quarter of 2022, the development of 3 new programs:

The Seed of Hope program (GDE): a program that consists of improving the training offered by training centers so that it meets the needs of the labor market. This involves 5 pillars: improving training standards, renovating equipment, training teachers, setting up orientation and employment activities, and improving school management. .
The hotel and catering program (HR): support for the partner Sorawel in the development of its vocational training center in the hotel and catering industry
The health program

 

 

In the field of agricultural development, the IECD implements training and
support for small producers in the West Cameroon region (around the city of
Dschang) and in the Littoral region (around the city of Njombé) since 2014. These training courses aim to support producers in producing fruit and vegetables of better quality as well as products with higher added value. In order to help the most motivated producers find a more profitable distribution channel, the IECD created in 2017 a social enterprise, SOFRULECAM (Société des Fruits et Légumes du Cameroun). The company pre-finances, buys and markets fruit and vegetables from around a hundred producers to a network of individuals, restaurants and supermarkets.

ASSIGNMENTS

Under the direct supervision of the Cameroon agricultural development project manager, you will accomplish the
following missions:

1 / Support and manage the team of agricultural advisers:

Supervise and support the agricultural advisers:
– Setting objectives
– Evaluation
– Administrative management

Train the advisers in pedagogical tools
Identify and encourage skills development and team loyalty
2/ Implement the new IECD market gardening training course (TOP PROD):

Plan the deployment of the new market gardening training course
Coordinate and participate in the prospecting of beneficiaries eligible for training
Implement the training cycle according to the predefined schedule
Adjust the training content continuously
Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of training
Ensure the expenses related to training activities
3/ Ensure the follow-up of fruit producers:

 

 

Ensure field visits
Propose remediation of difficulties encountered by producers
Collect impact data
4/ Support the creation of new training content:

Assessment of the training needs of producers in the area not covered by existing training content to support them towards greater resilience
Launch and monitoring of experiments
Support the updating of training content based on the IECD pedagogical methodology
5/ Create synergies with the actors of training, production and experimentation in the area:

Map the actors
Meet the actors to get to know them better and make themselves known
Develop common activities
PROFILE

Training: Agronomy studies
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in agricultural training
Professional skills:

Training of groups of producers
Accompaniment of producers on the plot
Planning, coordination and monitoring of implementation of various activities
Team management
Support for skills
development Solid mastery of the Office pack: Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Personal qualities:

CONDITIONS

Status: 2-year fixed-term contract, renewable
Under the direct supervision of: Agricultural Development Project Manager, based in Douala
Location: Dschang, with regular trips to Njombé and Douala
Compensation: according to profile
