Job Description

Under the direction and general supervision of the Security Advisor (SA), the Driver assists in the safe driving of UN personnel in the country or region of assignment.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Driving and Transportation
-Drive assigned official vehicle and ensure transportation of mail, documents and other items to local authorities, NGOs and banks
-Greet official visitors (consultants and experts on mission) at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities if necessary
-Ensure the travel of official visitors as part of their missions
-Any other mission entrusted to him by the hierarchy.
2. Maintenance and Repairs
-Perform daily vehicle maintenance, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.
-Carry out minor repairs in the event of a breakdown occurring during travel.
-Coordinate necessary major repairs with service providers and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean
3. Administrative management
-Record official journeys in the vehicle logbook,
-Keep the vehicle technical data sheet up to date, including the dates of technical inspection and insurance renewal,
-Ensure the presence of the first aid kit and necessary spare parts in the vehicle
-Complete all formalities required in the event of an accident, in accordance with regulations in force

Education:
-At least a High School Degree or equivalent (GCA..)
Or
A First Secondary diploma (GCO or equivalent/BEPC/CAP) with 05 years of professional experience
Or
A bachelor’s Degree with no experience
– A diploma / certificate in automobile mechanics would be a considerable asset;
– At least a Driving license B is required
Experience:
Have a minimum of 02 years of relevant professional experience as a driver and in a recognized company or organization
– Experience working with an international NGO, an international organization and/or the United Nations is an advantage.
-Knowledge of the rules of good conduct and an aptitude for minor repairs will be assets.
-Previous experience driving official vehicles and transporting official visitors is an asset.
-Knowledge of road safety procedures and defensive driving will be considered an asset.
-Familiarity with immigration and customs procedures at the airport will be considered an asset.
-Excellent oral and written command of French and knowledge of English.
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) would be an asset;
-Know the rules relating to the use of vehicles in the field (safety, regular communication with the base and use of VHF, HF radios, etc.)
