Description
The EU co-funded project is part of the “Decentralization and Good Governance” cluster in Cameroon and the EU Multiannual Indicative Planning 2021-2027. Two of the three components of the project are implemented in the North-West and South-West regions and aim to support local civil society in promoting social cohesion and livelihoods among the population and mitigating gender-based violence.
This project, whose coordination is based in Yaoundé, has branches in all regions of Cameroon. As part of the implementation of its activities, the project is looking for a driver (01) in Douala.
Description of the tasks
Under the direction of the Head of Components 2 and 3, the driver will be mainly responsible for:
· Providing passenger transport with a service vehicle for project staff, official guests and visitors in Littoral, South-West and other regions of Cameroon;
· Carrying out errands for the project, such as sending letters or messages, settling bills and purchasing small quantities of office supplies;
· Assisting in the transport of goods as required by the activity;
· Maintaining the logbook of the vehicle for which he is responsible in an accurate and conscientious manner in accordance with GIZ standards;
· Taking responsibility for the program vehicle documents, daily maintenance of the logbook and recording of monthly maintenance;
· Regularly clean the vehicle inside and out and perform the required daily and monthly checks (water, oil, headlights, brake fluid, tires, battery, bodywork, etc.);
· Regularly report maintenance needs;
· Immediately report any involvement in an accident, however minor, as well as any damage to the antenna vehicle, any deterioration or theft of the vehicle’s equipment;
· Use all available sources of information (including traffic updates broadcast on the radio) to be aware of the state of the roads, accessible routes and localities, and exchange this information with other drivers in the Cluster;
· Perform other activities and tasks as instructed by his/her superior;
· Participate, as needed, in continuing education courses related to the position.
Requirements
Required qualifications :
· Hold a BEPC or an equivalent diploma ;
· Hold at least a valid D driving license ;
· Have 3 years of experience as a professional driver ;
· Have knowledge of car mechanics ;
· Excellent command of English and French required ;
· Excellent knowledge of the Littoral and the South-West region ;
· No major accidents in the last 3 years ;
· Be neat, polite, have easy communication and a good sense of hierarchical relationships ;
· Discipline and punctuality.
· Good knowledge of the place of assignment.
Contract start date: December 01, 2024
Contract period: 02 years renewable
