The Cameroonian Association for Social Marketing (ACMS) is looking for candidates in the position of TB Infection Control Specialist (M/F) based in Ngaoundéré and Garoua.
What do we recruit?
The TB Infection Control Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the implementation and strengthening of TB infection control measures within health facilities, with a particular focus on integrating these measures into HIV care. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring effective coordination, training, and implementation of TB/HIV management strategies, contributing to the overall goal of reducing TB transmission and improving outcomes for patients with TB and TB/HIV co-infection. They report to Integrated Service Delivery Specialist.

Kev Responsibilities:
Facilitate the integration of routine HIV testing for all presumptive and confirmed TB cases in healthcare facilities.
Ensure that TB patients who test positive for HIV are promptly linked to ART services for timely treatment.
Develop strategies to enhance TB case finding among PLHIV, particularly children and adolescents, integrating TB screening into routine HIV care. Collaborate with community health workers to extend TB case-finding efforts into communities using mobile clinics and targeted outreach campaigns. Organize and facilitate joint TBIHIV coordination meetings at the regional levels to ensure alignment and integration of efforts in managing co-infections. Collaborate with health authorities to establish and strengthen Child and Adolescent TB Centers of Excellence, focusing on integrated TB care for young populations.
Develop and implement specialized training programs for healthcare providers on pediatric and adolescent TB management.
Develop training curricula for healthcare providers focused on integrated TB/HIV management, including co-infection diagnosis and treatment. Organize and deliver training sessions using diverse methods such as workshops and hands-on clinical training to engage healthcare providers effectively.
Develop and disseminate standardized TB screening protocols for healthcare facilities, aligned with national and international standards.
Assist facility managers in establishing or enhancing routine TB screening processes and ensure that necessary screening tools are available and maintained.
Develop and implement plans to expand Isoniazid Preventive Therapy (l PT) rollout to all PLHIV, integrating it into routine HIV care services.
Train healthcare providers on IPT administration, including patient eligibility, dosing, and management of side effects.
Conduct a quarterly comprehensive review of the TB sample transport system to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Organize meetings with stakeholders to discuss and implement solutions to optimize the sample transport system.
Develop adherence support programs tailored for TB patients, especially those co-infected with HIV, focusing on continuous follow-up and support.
Develop and conduct IPC needs assessments in healthcare facilities, focusing on TB infection control practices. Identify recommendations for strengthening ‘PC practices and develop action plans to address identified gaps.
Assist in designing and implementing comprehensive IPC programs in healthcare facilities, emphasizing TB infection control.
Train healthcare workers on IPC practices, developing materials and guidelines to support consistent implementation.
Monitor the implementation of IPC programs through audits and supervision visits, ensuring high standards are maintained.
Qualifications and skills required:
Master’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, or any related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in TB infection control or a related field. o Strong knowledge of TB infection control protocols and practices. o Fluency in English and French.
