Background
Impact Santé Afrique (ISA) is a non-governmental organization based in Cameroon and the
Democratic Republic of Congo whose main objective is to contribute to improving
the health of populations by implementing transformative and sustainable programs
that will save lives and improve the health of our communities (for more information,
visit www.impactsante.org). ISA is looking for a Senior Communication Specialist to
oversee and strengthen the impact of its health communications activities.
Job Description
As a Senior Communication Specialist, you will be under the supervision of the
Executive Director. Thus, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of
ISA’s communication strategy and actively contribute to increasing the visibility and impact
of our programs with beneficiaries and stakeholders at local, regional and
international levels.
Main functions and responsibilities
Design and implementation of the communication strategy
• Define and lead ISA’s global communication strategy to strengthen its
positioning in the active fight against malaria.
• Design and oversee integrated communications campaigns with
significant impact, aligned with organizational priorities and public health issues.
• Ensure the effectiveness and quality of communications initiatives to promote
large-scale political and community change.
• Contribute to the achievement of the program’s strategic objectives;
• Ensure the quality of the operational implementation of the strategy related to the
development of integrated communications campaigns that guarantee maximum impact and
effectiveness and large-scale transformational change at the
political and community levels.
Supervision and development of the communications team
• Lead and coach communications teams, to ensure alignment with the
organization’s strategic vision.
• Ensure the development of the team’s capacities in planning,
project management, and evaluation of communications impacts.
• Supervise the production of all communications materials (newsletters,
press releases, reports, social media content) in compliance with
ISA quality standards.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
• Oversee the development and maintenance of strategic media relationships,
States, CSOs, in order to increase influence and visibility.
• Collaborate with opinion leaders and policy makers to generate
increased support for ISA’s public health objectives, particularly in the fight against
malaria.
• Technical support for the implementation of the communication plan;
• Content creation for ISA platforms;
• Develop communication and advocacy tools;
• Supervise and collaborate with a graphic designer for high-quality creatives;
Innovation and impact
• Identify and exploit innovative communication opportunities to optimize
ISA’s visibility.
• Supervise data collection and analysis to measure the impact of
communication actions and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Contribute to the development of funding proposals and the writing of reports
in line with donor and partner requirements.
Qualifications
• Degree: Master’s degree in communication, advocacy, social sciences or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years in a strategic communication position with
management responsibilities, ideally in the health or
development sector.
• Language skills: Excellent command of English and French, with
strong professional writing skills.
• Leadership skills: Proven experience in team management and coordination
of large-scale projects.
• Strategic relationships: Ability to develop constructive working relationships with
policy makers, media, partners and CSOs.
• Autonomy and team spirit: Ability to work independently while
ensuring effective coordination with teams.
