Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Support creation of sub-divisional strategy in line with overarching divisional goals with emphasis on channel experience (internal and external)
  • Ensure effective implementation of sub-divisional strategy by means of providing direction, structure, business plans, tools, and support
  • Spearhead the development and execution of data-driven sales strategies, utilizing insights from advanced data analytics to enhance sales performance, optimize distribution processes, and maximize revenue opportunities

 

Operational Delivery

  • Oversee the development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives for sales research and customer insights, leveraging data analytics to enhance the understanding of customer behaviors, preferences, and market trends
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of sales and distribution insights for Business planning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the application of relevant business rules in the budget process and forecasting scenarios, aligning forecasts with sales objectives and financial targets
  • Oversee the verification of driver assumptions and key figures in the Business Plan, from gross revenue to margin, ensuring consistency with sales targets and financial goals
  • Review and ensure the quality assurance of the tariff and pricing strategy across all commercial and retail channels, leveraging data insights to ensure competitiveness, profitability, and alignment with sales objectives
  • Develop a robust framework for executing sales and distribution plans and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market opportunities
  • Evaluate network rollout from a customer perspective, providing actionable insights and strategic direction to the marketing and sales teams to ensure alignment with customer needs and enhance market penetration
  • Redesign operational systems and processes, including CRM (e.g., Salesforce), ERP (e.g., SAP), sales automation tools, business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and distribution management systems, to drive efficiency and achieve operational excellence
  •  Conduct in-depth analysis of overall performance to identify factors affecting revenue, cost of sales, and churn. Provide actionable insights to leadership through reports to reduce customer attrition, optimize profitability, and drive operational improvements
  • Work closely with other Sales & Distribution stakeholders to develop and implement data dashboards and analytical models to assess the impact of competitor actions on OpCo performance, providing real-time visualization of sales performance and optimize competitive positioning.
  • Identify, evaluate, and leverage emerging data technologies and tools (e.g., predictive analytics) to forecast sales trends, customer behaviors, and distribution needs, continuously improve sales data intelligence capabilities & stay ahead of industry trends
  • Assess data at each stage of the sales funnel to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization, and implement strategies to enhance conversion rates and streamline the sales process
  • Facilitate the integration of sales data across various departments, including Marketing, Finance, and Operations, to create a unified view of customer behavior, sales trends, and market opportunities
  • Build churn prediction models using a segmented approach to identify at-risk customer groups, enabling the creation of targeted tactical corrective actions to improve retention and reduce churn
  • Propose loyalty initiatives to relevant MTN Cameroon stakeholders, for point of sales, leveraging customer insights and data-driven strategies to enhance customer retention, increase repeat business, and drive long-term loyalty at key sales touchpoints
  • Oversee the implementation of channel segmentation, utilizing data-driven insights to categorize and tailor strategies for different sales channels, optimizing performance and resource allocation across diverse market segments
  • Responsible to coordinate all activities within Sales Data Intelligence function to ensure alignment, integration of effort and minimize duplications and conflicts
  • Ensure implementation of relevant CVM initiatives, focusing on maximizing customer lifetime value, retention, and engagement across various sales channels
  • Supervise the integration of advanced technologies, such as AI and machine learning, into sales data intelligence to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
  • Conduct the benchmarking of international Business Intelligence practices and lead the continuous improvement of the marketing intelligence framework to ensure best-in-class data-driven insights and decision-making

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of 4 – year tertiary qualification in Statistics or Computer Science (must be comfortable in at least two of these areas).
  • Master’s degree in data science/Analytics, Business Analytics or Marketing preferable or relevant professional qualification is advantageous.
  • Fluent in English and French

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in a global / multinational business
  • environment (understanding of emerging markets advantageous)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Business intelligence of which 3 years’ experience in telecoms industry
  • Manager track record of 5 years or more, with at least 3 years in relevant sector/industry
  • Experience in leading change / transformation (distribution) at an operational level advantageous
  • Experience in the service management of business operations, including process design, measurement, and improvements
  • Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices
  • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous

 

Knowledge: 

  • Sales Data Analysis: In-depth understanding of sales data analysis methodologies, including predictive modelling, trend analysis, and statistical techniques to interpret large datasets
  • Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Expertise in gathering, analysing, and synthesizing market research data and competitor insights to inform sales strategies
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Proficient in using Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and QlikView for data visualization and reporting
  • Sales Automation & CRM Integration: Understanding how automation tools integrate with CRMs and other sales systems to improve the efficiency of lead generation, nurturing, and reporting
  • Data Warehousing & Database Management: Familiarity with data management concepts and technologies, including experience in managing and extracting data from data warehouses
  • SQL and Data Query Languages: Proficient in SQL and other data query languages to manipulate and retrieve data from databases
  • Cloud Platforms & Big Data: Knowledge of cloud-based platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for managing large data volumes and running advanced analytics
  • Sales Forecasting: Knowledge of sales forecasting models and techniques to predict future sales trends and set realistic targets
  • Data Governance and Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of data governance policies, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and best practices in maintaining data integrity and security
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Knowledge of how to work across departments to align sales data insights with business objectives, including collaboration with finance, marketing, and IT teams
  • Sales and Distribution Strategies: Deep understanding of sales and distribution processes, including channel management, sales territories, and distribution networks
  • Demand Forecasting: Expertise in demand forecasting methodologies to predict sales volumes, plan inventory, and optimize distribution logistics
  • Sales Channel Segmentation: Familiarity with customer segmentation techniques and their application in tailoring sales strategies to different customer groups within distribution channels
  • Sales Funnel Optimization: Ability to assess data at each stage of the sales funnel to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization and implement strategies to enhance conversion rates and streamline the sales process
  • Revenue Management: Understanding of revenue management principles, including pricing strategies, margin analysis, and profitability assessments within the context of sales and distribution
