Context :
WCS is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1895 with the aim of safeguarding wild species and spaces throughout the world through scientific research, conservation actions, education and awareness of the values of nature, the training of conservation professionals and the development of many management tools in partnership with other organizations in the conservation world. Through its involvement in more than 350 projects, its presence in more than 60 countries and its contribution to the establishment of nearly 150 protected areas around the world, WCS has brought together ecological knowledge, the cultural experiences and partnerships necessary to enable the coexistence of wild species and habitats and local communities and to reconcile the conservation of biodiversity and socio-economic development. WCS has been present in Cameroon since 1988 and has contributed to the creation and management of numerous protected areas including the Mbam and Djerem National Park.
Created in January 2000 with the technical assistance of WCS, the Mbam and Djerem National Park has benefited since 2003 from the services of a project executed and financed jointly by the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife and the Wildlife Conservation Society with the support of other donors including: the Foundation for the Environment and Development of Cameroon (FEDEC), USFWS, ECF, Hempel.
As part of the strengthening of its management capacities, WCS is looking for the services of a Versatile Logistician Assistant.

Purpose of the position:
The Versatile Logistician Assistant will provide logistical support for the implementation of the WCS project in the Mbam Djerem National Park based in Mbakaou by ensuring the timely supply of the products, materials and consumables necessary for the smooth running of the project. Specifically, he will be responsible for identifying needs in relation to user services; processes for acquiring equipment, materials, supplies and others; inventory management, logistics management, fleet management (vehicles, motorcycles, speedboats) movements and travel security. Hierarchical position:
The Versatile Logistician Assistant will have the PNMB Project Director as his hierarchical superior and the Logistics Officer as technical referent.
Main activities
The list is not exhaustive and will evolve according to the priorities of the WCS organization:
Responsibilities:
– Manage purchases by respecting the procedures of WCS and donors by ensuring, among other things, compliance with the principles of purchases and the traceability of all purchases;
– Prepare purchasing files and send to the finance department for payment to suppliers;
– Manage supplier data by ensuring the proper maintenance of the list of suppliers (renewal, identification of new potential suppliers, tax file, etc.);
– Set up the price catalog and ensure that it is regularly updated;
– Regularly update the monitoring of purchases in order to keep applicants informed of the progress of their needs.
– Assist in the preparation of missions by providing the equipment and rations necessary for each mission.
– Manage base stocks while preventing stockouts through the alert system and provide support to substation teams in this area.
– Ensure the archiving of documents related to logistics
– Plan, anticipate and organize the supply of various project items (rations, fuel, office equipment, camping equipment, etc.) for the PNMD teams and its branches;
– Monitor the WCS car fleet and motorized fleet, ensuring that all vehicles and generators comply with maintenance and fuel plans and that documents are up to date;
– Monitor project equipment including maintenance, database updates, usage monitoring and cost monitoring (including the cost of satellite phones).
– Ensure the maintenance and rehabilitation of buildings in conjunction with contract technicians and other service providers.
– Process documents relating to the execution of logistics operations (eg, receipts of consumables, verification of invoices), take appropriate measures to resolve operational problems by transmitting the various problems to the supervisor;
– Collect and compile data, produce and/or contribute to reports (e.g., financial close, physical inventory, transportation performance) and ensure accuracy of information in systems to enable informed decision-making ;
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
– Bac +3 in Logistics/transport or any other related discipline;
– Have at least 02 (two) years of professional experience in a similar position;
– Have a good knowledge of the NGO sector and the procedures of donors USFWS, European Union etc.;
– Having experience with NGOs would be an asset;
– Applied knowledge of methodologies and tools for monitoring and budgeting and fixed assets;
– Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Word, Excel, Powerpoint software;
– Flexible, autonomous and rigorous in the organization of work;
– Bilingual French/English.
Working conditions
- Position based in Mbakaou with travel to be planned according to the request of the Project Director and other sites in the park.
- Paid annual leave
- One-year contract with the possibility of renewal based on the evaluation of the employee’s performance and the context of the project.
