WHO Road Safety Reporting Workshop for African Journalists and Journalism Trainers 2022

Africa has the highest road traffic fatality rate in the world. Over 800 people are killed in road crashes every day, more than half of them vulnerable road users like pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. It’s a public health crisis that is entirely preventable. It’s also a huge story that needs to be told.

WHO began when our Constitution came into force on 7 April 1948 – a date we now celebrate every year as World Health Day. We are now more than 7000 people from more than 150 countries working in 150 country offices, in 6 regional offices and at our headquarters in Geneva.

After the training, participants may apply for grants to support either reporting or reporting training on road safety.

Applications from journalists and media trainers from Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania will be prioritised.
