Position: Finance Officer
Location: Yaoundé – Cameroon
Contract Duration: 02 years renewable
Contract Type: Fixed term
Contract Start: ASAP
Reporting Line: Finance Manager (FM)

 




 

Main Objective of the role:
The Finance Officer (FO) is a Country Office (CO) role that provides entry level professional finance and administrative support to the country programme. The FO is responsible for the day-to-day general finance and administration tasks at the country office and takes charge of the financial health of the office by administering accounting operations to in a legal and policy-compliant manner.

Main Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all daily finance and administration transactions are executed in compliance to legal norms and CBM policies and deadlines;
• Ensure internal controls are effectively implemented in day to day tasks;
• Regularly update the Finance Manager on arising financial and administrative issues having an impact on the operations of the country office;

 



 

• Record accounting transactions on Business Central in real time;
• Provide accounting statements when required by management;
• Prepare financial reports and activity based budget versus expense reports for review by FM;
• Support FM to prepare financial records for annual auditing process and participate in financial audits
• Liaison with CO team to prepare annual budgets and forecasts;
• Assist the Finance Manager to review and enforce financial policies
• Perform monthly cash counts; bank account reconciliations, for approval by FM and file;
• Maintain accurate banking records, perform bank payment orders and file with bank correspondences;
• Maintain an updated CO assets register;
• Receive and process travel advances requests and travel expense claims for staff travels;
• Prepare and manage in a timely manner, payments to third parties for goods and services provided;
• Ensure timely declarations and payments of all taxes and social securities including insurances premiums;
• Maintain a strong financial filling system and manage filing of financial documents
• Work on specific accounts of implementing partners

 




 

Pre-requisite
At least 3 years proven experience in a similar position within a reputable development or international NGO;
Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
Knowledge of financial regulations in Cameroon
University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or another relevant field;
A professional qualification in accounting (CPA, CCA, CIMA) is an added advantage;
Excellent analytical and numerical skills
Sharp time management skills
Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
Basic Project Cycle management knowledge;
Basic skills in training in practical financial management;
Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability to work under pressure within strict deadlines and prioritise tasks efficiently;
High degree independency from close supervision;

Languages and tools
English and French: professional proficiency
Demonstrated advanced experience in MS office Packages
Demonstrated advanced competencies in MS Office package, particularly with Excel and experience with accounting packages. Knowledge in MS SharePoint Solutions, Business Central, power BI, PROMIS, or similar software is an advantage.
Self-starting individual who is capable of working with minimal supervision.
Willingness to commit and adhere to CBM’s values and Child Safeguarding Policies.
