Job Description
How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
In view of continuously improving and increasing her focus of a patient-centered strategic information, EGPAF Cameroon is strengthening his M&E system to improve patient management through the provision of accurate and timely data in its Atteindre95 project. It is against this background that EGPAF is seeking to recruit two highly motivated and self-driven and proficient individuals to join its Data Management and Data Analysis Unit as a health informatics assistant. The incumbents will work closely with the Health Informatic team, and other Strategic Information and program staff to help promote the vision and objectives of EGPAF Cameroon.
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Enhance existing electronic tools by analyzing program requirements, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement
- Utilize established development tools guidelines and conventions to design, develop, and test the data capture and entry tools
- Will be expected to support the DAMA, PLDC and DHIS2 suits.
- Maintain existing data entry tools/digital tools/software by identifying and correcting software defects
- Engaging users and the program technical team in order to prioritize system feature requests
- Provide insight regarding usability and user experience to guide the development and impact of various digital tools
- Learn and develop skills to keep abreast with new technologies
- Leverage knowledge and contribute to proper knowledge management within the program
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Support the development of other software applications as requested
- Any other duties that may be reasonably assigned
Qualifications
To be successful, you will have:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health information systems and Health informatics, or a bachelor’s degree in related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in software development.
- Good understanding of and development experience of EMR systems and eHealth
- Knowledge of programing on the DHIS2 and any other electronic medical system
- Experience with Free and Open-Source technology stack is strongly preferred
- Proven practical knowledge of the following programing languages and tools:
- PHP Laravel framework
- Ruby on Rails
- jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap
- SQL (MS SQL, Postgres SQL) and NoSQL database development, scripting, and optimization
- Familiar with the DHIS2 suit, and other data collection tools like ODK, Kobo.
- Web server management and optimization
- Understanding of Health Information Exchange standards such as HL7 FHIR
Other Required Skills and abilities
- Working knowledge of PEPFAR programs and health systems in Cameroon is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines while producing quality content.
- Familiar with the Cameroon health information management system.
- Comfortable working long hours if needed
- Ability to translate user requirements into functional specifications
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, presentation, written communication and analytical skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills to meet EGPAF’s need.
- Experience in working effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
- Able to create, motivate and hold accountable a high performing team
- Highly organized, meticulous, and reliable
- Result-driven and attentive to detail.
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally in English will be an asset.
- Statistical analysis skills and experience will be an asset.
