Engine Mechanic
Job Description
Responsibilities
- 
Maintain and repair hydraulic systems of vehicles or equipment powered by diesel engines, if applicable. 
- 
Ensure the proper functioning of fuel storage, transfer, and distribution systems for vehicles and generators (fuel filters, pumps, injectors). 
- 
Respond quickly to emergency vehicle or generator breakdowns at various sites, carrying out repairs on site where possible, which may require travel to remote network sites. 
- 
Maintain detailed records of maintenance performed, repairs made, parts replaced, and fuel consumption for all equipment. 
- 
Contribute to the management of the inventory of spare parts, lubricants, and other consumables essential for the maintenance of diesel engines. 
- 
Strictly apply all safety regulations and procedures when working on engines and related systems. 
- 
Communicate effectively with the Fleet Manager, Network Operations teams, and site technicians to ensure reliable operation of vehicles and generators. 
- 
Ensure proper disposal of used oils, filters, and other waste in accordance with environmental regulations. 
- 
Communicate project progress to a wide range of senior management contributors. 
- 
Other related tasks as required. 
Academic Training
- 
Minimum: Advanced Level/Baccalaureate certificate combined with any training in Automotive Mechanics or a related field. 
Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- 
Strong skills in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in diesel engines. 
- 
Thorough knowledge of the operation of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, and related components. 
- 
Thorough knowledge of how generator sets work is a significant asset. 
- 
Proficiency in the use of a wide range of hand and power tools. 
- 
Ability to diagnose and repair basic electrical problems of diesel engines and generator sets. 
- 
Physical endurance to perform demanding tasks, work in various positions, and lift heavy items. 
- 
Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions. 
- 
Strong commitment to safe work practices. 
- 
Ability to communicate clearly on technical issues. 
- 
Valid driver’s license, essential for travel to different locations. 
- 
Adaptability and willingness to travel to various network sites, sometimes remote. 
- 
Excellent organizational, priority management, and teamwork skills. 
- 
Perfect command of French and English considered an asset.
