THE POST
Purpose of the position:
The security assistant, under the supervision of the area manager, is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of security policies, plans and procedures.

and assessing incidents, developing and implementing security risk management plans and supporting staff in the field.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Main responsibilities:
- Help analyze security risks and threats, write accurate reports on trends and circumstances that could impact
- negative on DRC operations and ensure that information is gathered accurately to enable reporting and decision-making.
- Support the base chaff in developing a network of local contacts that facilitates safe access for DRC operations in the area.
- Review security-related data (such as security incidents and occurrences, security support for daily activities, etc.) and
- use corporate or local information management technologies to produce fundamental analysis and reporting to ensure information is easily accessible to important stakeholders.
- Assist in the organization, preparation, execution and monitoring of field missions, as well as personnel, and conduct routine security assessments
- in the assigned region to promote safe and efficient program delivery.
- Prepare and submit Security Incident Reports (SIR) as required.
- Provide DRC with credible and timely security information and contextual analysis of local security information through daily alerts and reports; weekly incident reports; bimonthly analytical reports and other thematic reports.
- Support review of related policy documents, conduct site security investigations.
- After field missions, write detailed security assessment reports with risk reduction suggestions to assist in security scenario analysis and decision-making.
- Assist in the formulation of recommendations to the Area Manager on security risk management issues and security concerns in accordance with the DRC Security Management System.
- Assist in the implementation of all security risk management mitigation measures, including Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS), to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the management and maintenance of security equipment and identify new needs in order to increase technological capacity in accordance with company objectives.
- Assist in monitoring the effectiveness and strict adherence to all access control procedures by all staff and visitors to ensure accountability and maintenance of a safe and secure environment.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of emergency and contingency plan documentation, including physical preparations and procedures to support crisis preparedness.
- Assist in identifying security training needs to support training planning and implementation to meet staff development needs.
- Supervise and provide on-the-job training to other staff, supporting their development and high performance.
- Monitor all movements of DRC personnel within and between the Meiganga, Djohong and Garoua Boulaï field sites on a daily basis.
- Immediately report any violations of safety and security procedures and any threats against DRC staff, beneficiaries, activities or property.
- Assist in providing safety briefings to personnel as delegated by the Base Chief.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifications and experience
- Strong ability to work in a variety of environments.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)
Bac +3 minimum in a relevant field (statistics, development research or social sciences, preferably with particular attention to monitoring and evaluation)
Technical experience and skills:
- University degree in political science, peace and conflict studies, history, disaster management or any other related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in field operations and security management.
- Very good knowledge of the security context in the Adamaoua and East regions.
- Experience in negotiating access.
- Training in safety and disaster management, as well as fire and evacuation procedures is desirable. All DRC roles require the incumbent to master basic DRC skills:

LANGUAGES
- Fluency in written and spoken French.
- Mastery of local languages
- Knowledge of English desirable.
