Job Purpose and Organizational Context

Under the direct supervision of the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Clinic Doctor. The role of the UN Clinic is to care for the staff and their dependents. The UN Doctor is responsible for their health.
The United Nations Clinic opened its doors in 2012. Its main objective is to cover the medical needs of UN staff and their dependents by providing general medical care and, where necessary, facilitating referrals to higher-level health facilities and specialists, either locally or abroad .

Given the risks of contamination associated with the clinic’s specific work, particularly with emerging infections, it is important to focus on the prevention of nosocomial infections through hygiene control.

The role of the UN clinic is to manage all medical and health aspects of UN staff and their dependents. This has become even more important with the new pandemics that have swept the world in recent years. To this end, a new COVID section has been opened, which specifically manages cases due to this pathology, a unit which requires strict hygiene control.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic’s Chief Medical Officer and the Administrative and Financial Assistant, the Hygiene Officer and his/her team will ensure the cleanliness of the United Nations Clinic and its specialized departments. He/she will ensure that professionals comply with best practices, and will organize and implement all aspects of the hygiene of premises, reusable equipment and linen (cleaning, disinfection, sterilization), as well as environmental quality. More specifically, he/she will perform the following tasks:

– Supervise the team in charge of cleanliness and hygiene at the clinic;

– Ensure the continuous cleanliness and hygiene of the department;

– Clean the clinic’s various premises.

– Ensure the cleanliness and decontamination of equipment and tools used in the clinic, using antiseptic solutions and other sterilization methods.

– Dust walls, doors and windows;

– Tidy up furniture;

– Assist clinical staff if necessary;

– Ensure compliance with established protocols, instructions and procedures.

– Perform other duties as required.
