To ensure global food security, Good Neighbors works in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP) in several African countries to combat food insecurity. In Cameroon, Good Neighbors is working in partnership with WFP as part of the Food Crisis Emergency Response Project (PULCCA) to address immediate food insecurity needs in areas targeted by the project.

ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER
Position summary:
The Deputy Project Manager is placed under the authority of the Project Manager and works in close collaboration with the monitoring agents on the ground in the different departments of the Grand Nord region, the financial manager and the person in charge WILL be. Alongside the project manager, he/she directly supervises the field monitoring officers, field monitoring assistants and community mobilizers based in the different field sites.
He/she will support the implementation of field activities, including providing technical and operational support to the field team to ensure proper execution of work, with regard to capacity building activities and suggesting ways to develop/adjust project strategies to achieve specific and general objectives. He/she provides daily technical support and coaching to the project team and partners or stakeholders. This position requires an individual who has in-depth knowledge and strong skills in food security, agriculture, livelihoods and community engagement in humanitarian and development contexts.

 




 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Management:

• Ensure implementation of all planned activities on the ground in the respective areas of project implementation within the planned time frame and in a consistent manner.
• Support the identification of key stakeholders involved in the value chain and lead discussions with them to identify areas of support to develop linkages and collaborative ways of working.
• Provide technical support for the planning and implementation of capacity building trainings and workshops within the interventions, i.e. capacity building related to agricultural livelihoods, development business and skills, financial inclusion and environmental protection.

 

 

• Actively promote value chain development for beneficiary groups through the provision of productive assets, technical training, value addition and market linkages.
• Ensure the active participation of different categories of beneficiaries in project interventions.
• Coordinate relevant stakeholders and service providers to provide training to project beneficiaries, including on advanced agricultural techniques and methods, value addition, financial literacy, VSLA, inputs, control and management of quality, etc.
• Conduct market research and advise on the best implementation strategies that would enable targeted farmers and farmer groups to have profitable agribusinesses.
• Develop a sustainable marketing structure, including an umbrella commodity marketing association to improve market access.

Project implementation and capacity development:
• Ensure that work procedures and procedural manuals are understood and applied throughout implementation by staff and partners.
• Provide technical support and coaching to field staff, partners and service providers to ensure that field implementation is consistent with work plans, procedure manuals and implementation guidelines. agreed implementation.
• Work closely with safety and security focal points to ensure that field implementation complies with safety and security protocols. This includes timely preparation of travel requests for field trips, reporting of field security incidents, and regular communication with security focal points on field trips.
• Document and compile reports on project activities, including monthly and quarterly donor reports, internal reports (weekly activity reports (meetings, and any other activities).
• Support the establishment of a baseline data for all project activities to regularly monitor and evaluate their activities
• Take the initiative to report on project progress, successes and lessons learned during project implementation.
3. Partnership:
• Ensure that stakeholders are aware of the responsibility of the program and have information on the beneficiary feedback mechanism
• Work closely with relevant government departments (MINADER, MINEPIA, MINPROFF, MINAS), the UN system, INGOs and NGOs to share relevant information.
• Participate in internal and external meetings.
• Attend stakeholder meetings and field visits, as appropriate.
• Diligently perform all other duties as assigned from time to time.

 




 

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master 2 in Agricultural Sciences, Business Economics or any other relevant field with at least 4 years of continuous experience in implementing activities related to food security and livelihoods.
• Previous experience in a busy multi-sector environment, in a refugee context, is an asset.
• Knowledge and practical experience of value chain development.
• Knowledge and practical experience of public-private partnerships.
• Previous work experience with farmers’ organizations.
• Participatory training methodologies.
• Strong presentation skills and proficiency in Power Point, Excel and MS Word.
• Be bilingual with strong communication skills (written and oral) in French and English.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions.
• Team spirit, extreme flexibility and ability to deal with stressful situations.
• Excellent reporting skills and good oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of the local language in the Far North region is an added advantage.
