PROGRAM MANAGER

 

  JOB SUMMARY

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and directing the operations and projects of NexGen and her affiliate programs in Cameroon.

 




  MAJOR DUTIES

  • Plan and Develop Project Idea and lead project team towards agreed deliverables.
  • Monitor Project Progress and Set Deadlines while resolving all issues that may arise, maintaining stakeholders satisfaction and constantly tracking milestones and project deliverables
  • Evaluate Project Performance. Pro-actively manage the relationship with the implementing team, focusing on efficient implementation and accountability processes.
  • Ensure all Project Cycle Management tools and principles, and alignment with NexGen’s programmatic and strategy are integrated in running projects.

 

  • Works closely with an advisory board to provide a range of support services and seeks innovative funding mechanisms for clients. Also works in close collaboration with Industry, Government partners and IPS LLC to drive all NexGen projects across Cameroon.
  • Provides oversight and supervision of NexGen University Institute, Developers Institute, NexGen Project Up, IPS and NARL
  • Coordinates with strategic stakeholders to enhance project growth develops and maintains an active advisory council; serves on NHIT committees and teams; creates partnerships with local, regional, and state economic development organizations; attends regional and national conferences and meetings to enhance knowledge and create partnerships.
  • Directs the work of multiple employees, including making recommendations to hire, promote, and discipline direct reports and conducting monthly performance reviews of assigned staff.

  KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • IT friendly with excellent knowledge on project management software and job related software programs in the development sector.
  • Budget management, Task management and Risk management skills.
  • Technical skills on Project management methodology implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal relationships and flexibility in dealing with the public.
  • Project forecasting, workload management, change management, project time/scope/budget sensitivity.
  • Analytical skills, Problem solving skills and stakeholders management skills.

  SUPERVISORY CONTROLS




 

The CEO of IPS LLC assigns work in terms of program goals and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports, and observation of project activities.

 

  CONTACTS

 

  • Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, business owners, community leaders, CAMTEL, IPS, NARL, AACICT, Chamber of Commerce representatives, bankers, and members of the public etc.
  • Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, to negotiate matters, or to motivate or influence people.

 

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Moderate mobility due to interaction with project stakeholders, and community interactions.
  • This position is hybrid, that is performed both in office and at home.

 

  SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

 

  • This position has direct supervision over the project staff while reporting to the CEO and NexGen management board weekly.

 

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Masters degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Computer engineering or any other management related discipline. A bachelor’s degree with at least five (5) years experience in similar position will be accepted.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of NexGen Programs and Projects to direct and coordinate work within the projects, usually interpreted to require at least five (5) years of related industry experience.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license.
