To ensure global food security, Good Neighbors works in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP) in several African countries to combat food insecurity. In Cameroon, Good Neighbors is working in partnership with WFP as part of the Food Crisis Emergency Response Project (PULCCA) to address immediate food insecurity needs in areas targeted by the project.

FIELD MONITORING ASSISTANT
Task Overview
The Field Monitoring Assistant will monitor project activities and maintain operational focus on results. He or she will ensure daily monitoring and analysis of project results to measure operational performance against objectives and make necessary adjustments. He or she will inform operational decision-making, including project design. The Monitoring Assistant will produce data for periodic evaluation and reporting purposes, as well as for building additional evidence at all levels of the organization.
The Tracking Assistant will track project results, products and processes. Collect data disaggregated, where appropriate, by sex, age, category of beneficiaries and, if necessary, by other socio-cultural characteristics. Among the variables measured are the satisfaction of beneficiaries and the responsibility of Good Neighbors Cameroon towards the affected populations.

 




 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (non-exhaustive)
The position holder will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Monitor the progress of project activities and provide advice, technical assistance and coaching to project beneficiaries (farmer groups).
• Carry out regular visits to production sites (crops and livestock) in order to ensure the progress of agricultural activities and to identify and document the difficulties encountered by groups of farmers.
• Assist the field monitoring manager in all capacity building training for beneficiaries by participating in the organization of these trainings and ensuring their success.
• In close collaboration with the government authorities of MINADER and MINEPIA, select and register farmers to ensure their participation and adherence to the project.
• Participate in project meetings with other stakeholders such as the government
• Ensure gender balance in the composition of beneficiary groups and the active participation of women in decision-making processes.

 

 

• Support capacity building of smallholder farmers, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), aggregators and other rural actors to participate in structured markets; and promote commercial links through other platforms and other end buyers.
• Keep information files and documentation of the monitoring plan,
• Help ensure the active participation of smallholder farmers, including women and youth, in organized value chains and structured markets.
• Liaise with community mobilizers and field technicians from MINADER and MINEPIA to gather feedback and comments from beneficiaries and stakeholders to support program revisions and improve services.
• Receive and monitor comments and feedback from partners such as government and beneficiaries, to help identify project issues to drive program effectiveness.
• Prepare and submit a monthly report of monitoring activities to the field monitoring manager and present this report at monthly monitoring meetings.
• Provide regular updates on ongoing activities
• Submit incident reports to supervisor, as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Background: University degree in the functional areas of international development, humanitarian action, project management, international relations or other related areas of study relevant to this position.
Experience: At least four (2) years of progressive professional experience working in humanitarian and development organizations, emergency operations, managing data collection, using monitoring tools, preferred in the areas of livelihoods, climate-adapted food system, agriculture, or any other related functional area.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken French. Knowledge of Fulfulde or any other local language in the Far North region is highly desirable.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ACCESS TO THE POSITION
• Experience in data collection and report preparation, preferably in the specific area of ​​livelihoods and activities related to food systems adapted to climate change;
• In-depth technical knowledge of sustainable food systems, agriculture and nutrition value chain, and project implementation;
• Experience in implementing or monitoring projects related to sustainable food systems, Integrated Management Programs on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, agricultural and nutrition value chains or other areas related;
• Demonstrate responsibility, responsiveness and initiative to respond and/or act independently on various requests with minimal supervision and general direction. Ability to think on the spot and use sound judgment in the day-to-day management of unforeseen operational issues.
