For several decades, we have witnessed, throughout the world in general and in Cameroon in particular, an increasingly significant progression of incivism and the pernicious and criminal use of social networks whose main goal should be the circulation of safe and reliable information. A state of affairs that has been recognized at all levels of society.

This is how the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, in his speech of December 31, 2022 denounces “the rise of incivility, violence, non-respect for elementary social standards or established order” by people whose actions plunge several families into distress and sometimes ruin destinies. These individuals carry out disinformation, defamation and the propagation of hate speech on social networks and on the internet and therefore endanger social cohesion.

This denunciation is the umpteenth in a long series. It therefore appears essential to take strong actions to eradicate this scourge which is plaguing our society. With the opportunity of the promulgation of Law No. 2021/015 of July 9, 2021 relating to the organization and promotion of volunteering in Cameroon, this vast citizenship education campaign intends to rely on volunteering in order to reach as many people as possible. number of Cameroonians through various modalities including remotely through the mobilization of Volunteers online.
