Job Title Accountant
Reports to Finance Manager Location YAOUNDE
Role Objective:
The Accountant is responsible for providing primary support to the Finance Manager and the financial functions of the national office. It helps the office to successfully carry out the financial closing process and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts. The Accountant will analyze and prepare financial reports and coordinate and document accounting processes and procedures. The accountant will perform monthly preparation, review and analysis of operational and financial results, as well as reconciliation of relevant accounting balance sheets.

 

 

Context of the ExpandPF activity and role:
ExpandPF (Expand Family Planning and Reproductive Health, funded by USAID) is a five-year activity that will be implemented in several countries in French-speaking West and Central Africa with the aim of to achieve FP2030 targets, focusing on youth and women in underserved urban and peri-urban areas. The activity is led by IPPF and is structured to enable local partners to identify solutions to obstacles and maximize levers for change by focusing on collaboration with national and regional stakeholders and by maximizing regional impact, The strategy supports the implementation of high-impact practices (HIPs) of family planning and self-care in selected countries with a view to influencing subnational, national and regional practices and policies for lasting results. IPPF member associations will leverage the platforms for operations, service delivery and stakeholder engagement.
Expected Results/Essential Job Duties •
• Record and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts, prepayments and accrued liabilities.
prepare monthly account valuations and monitor the exchange rate in the accounting system.
• Review and process requests as directed by the Finance Officer.
Reviews field transactions to ensure compliance with ExpandPF and USAID rules and regulations as well as managing authority or country organizational policies.
Contribute to the financial reporting process and prepare data and documentation as directed by the Finance Manager.
Contribute to the monitoring of any matters that may affect the financial integrity of the program or organization.
• Participate in the preparation of audits, if applicable.
Identifies ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting.
Reporting and Management Responsibility: N/A
Expertise:

 

 

• Experience in a similar position with strong knowledge of financial operations/management.
• Working knowledge of key accounting principles, standards and guidelines. Understanding of financial reporting functions and ability to work with complex budgets and financial reports.
A good understanding of programs funded by bilateral donors, particularly USAlD, and the rules and regulations.
• Understanding of public procurement processes and best practices, systems and databases
Fundamental knowledge of audit process and allotment administration, standards and guidelines
In-depth knowledge of procurement software accounting, systems, databases and spreadsheets.
Experience working within matrix organizations and large, complex projects across multiple countries.
Skills:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.
• Top-notch quantitative analytical skills.
• Excellent financial and budget management skills, including experience in donor reporting.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent command of accounting software and documentation systems.

Composition of the File:
• Cover letter and CV addressed to the Executive Director of CAMNAFAW;
• Certified copy of the highest diploma dating less than 3 months and a copy of the other diplomas;
• For drivers, a Certified copy of the highest diploma, including a copy of the BEPC/CAP diploma, a copy of the valid driving license;
• Certified copy of the birth certificate less than 3 months old; Extract from the criminal record Bulletin no. 3 less than 3 months old;
• Photocopy of the CNI;
• 02 letters of recommendation; Evidence of experience.
