PROMHANDICAM Association (Services for the Promotion of the Disabled in Cameroon) recognized by Decision No. 79/0025/D/MINAS/SG/SCES/BS of April 9, 1979 of the Ministry of Social Affairs, with the financial and technical support of its partner Christian Blind Mission (CBM), is launching a call for applications for the recruitment of a project manager for the implementation of specific projects.

Assignment :

Placed under the authority of the General Director and under the hierarchical responsibility of the Project Manager, the Advocacy Officer is responsible for contributing to the good organization and coordination of all activities relating to the area of ​​advocacy. In addition, he/she must define and implement advocacy strategies for PROMHANDICAM’s missions in general, and specific Projects, in particular, in line with the main objective of contributing to the definition of the strategy and PROMHANDICAM’s positions in terms of advocacy.

Duties :

o   Develop the PROMHANDICAM advocacy strategy and the action plan for the mission, consistent with the technical strategies: identification of relevant change objectives, seminar/workshop organizations, development of messages, identification of advocacy targets and partners;

o   Consolidate analyzes of the areas of advocacy: collection and updating of data, monitoring of national political and financial calendars, monitoring of the evolution of the positions of the different actors, in relation to the disability issue; Capitalize on the experiences of PROMHANDICAM (results of the actions implemented to fuel advocacy by the entire team; Facilitate the appropriation of advocacy objectives by the entire team; Drafting summary documents and positioning and active participation in the development of advocacy messages;

o   Organize advocacy and think tank activities (collection and analysis of relevant information, possible participation in forums and meetings);

o   Design of a communication plan concerning the structure’s activities: project sheets, contribution to the development and dissemination of reports and other documents, organization of radio and television broadcasts, animation of the website;

o   Verification of the overall consistency of communication tools at the level of all interventions (compliance with the rules and visibility of financial partners, speech adapted to the audience, sign language, transcription of documents into Braille in a timely manner, etc.) ;

o   Regularly update official, popularizable and usable information on the activities of the organization, through the website;

o   Participation in thematic working groups, institutional meetings and lobbying meetings on the issues concerned by the advocacy strategy; Development and coordination of partnership with other advocacy actors (partner schools, other civil society organizations and DPOs) and facilitation of joint advocacy actions;

 




 

o   Represent, at the national level, advocacy with partners;

o   Develop contacts with the media to enable effective relay of our messages, in close coordination with the coordinator;

o   In conjunction with department managers, the advocacy officer may be required to organize events for different audiences across all of the organization’s activities;

o   Planning, organizing and directing all activities necessary to achieve all program objectives;

o   Finalize all documents to be delivered as part of the program, respecting deadlines;

o   Identification of the main partner organizations;

o   Communication with partner DPOs and other project stakeholders; Mobilization of all stakeholders for the implementation of the project;

o   Organize monthly project meetings and ensure the writing of reports; Establishing and maintaining effective and ongoing communication with people and organizations directly or indirectly involved in the program;

o   Continuously monitor progress made;

o   Systematic information to the coordinator of the progress of interventions; Assume other tasks necessary to complete the project

Profile required for the position

o   Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, sociology or similar;

o   Minimum 03 years of experience in the field, fluent French and English

o   Specific technical knowledge

o   Development of the advocacy strategy, media and communication plan;

o   Implementation and monitoring of the advocacy strategy;

o   Preparation of dissemination of documents;

o   External representation;

Apart from all the aforementioned tasks, the Advocacy Officer will carry out any other task that the General Management deems necessary to entrust to him/her in the interest of implementing PROMHANDICAM’s missions.

o   Copies of diplomas and certificates obtained

o   A copy of the National Disability Card, if disabled candidate;

o   Any document proving the required professional experience (contracts, certificates, etc.)
